  1. Before We Say Good-Bye to 2017...

    We hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday season! We can’t believe in the blink of an eye it will be 2018 and we look forward to the New Year. But, before we clink glasses, there are still a few items on our to-do list. Here are some of our last minute things to do in Washington, DC before saying goodbye to 2017. We figured we’d make a few suggestions on how you can end 2017 with fun and loved ones.

    Visit the Pathway of Peace While You Still Can


    Grab your coats and gloves! Head over to The Ellipse and take a picture with your state’s Christmas tree. The National Christmas Tree and the Pathway of Peace is free to visit will be open from 8:00 am-Midnight through January 1, 2018. Each of the Christmas trees represent one of the 56 state and territories and are decorated with handmade ornaments unique to each tree.

    Georgetown GLOW


    Georgetown has been glowing this holiday season with an innovative exhibition of light-art installations that are not to be missed. The Georgetown GLOW exhibit features the work of many talented light artists from here at home and all over the world. The exhibition programs, maps and information booths will be available at Grace Church, Jefferson Court, and Pinstripes Friday through Sunday, from 6-10pm. through January 7th, 2018.

Tickets for the New Year’s Eve 8:00 PM show also includes the Kennedy Center Grand Foyer Party with live entertainment, a countdown to midnight and a big balloon drop.

  3. New Year's Eve in DC

    New Year’s Eve in the nation’s capital? We can’t think of a better place to be! It’s holiday season in Washington, DC and it’s time to plan your New Year’s Eve getaway.

    New Year's Eve at Plume

    Ring in 2018 with our Michelin starred team at Plume! Executive Chef Ralf Schlegel has prepared a seven-course meal that includes: Orchard Point Oysters with Horseradish Lassi, Avocado and Cucumber, Seared Prime Beef Filet with Brussel Sprouts, Celeriac, Kale, Cranberry and Verbena, Semolina Butter Dumplings and Madeira Reduction and Sumatra Coffee Namelaka with Blood Orange and Pomegranate Bourbon Ice Cream.

    Our first seating will be between 5:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. and is $185 per person, $295 per person with wine pairings, $65 per child ages 12 and under.

    Our second seating will be between 7:30 p.m. - 9:45 p.m. The cost is $255 per person, $430 per person with wine pairings, $85 per child ages 12 and under. This seating includes a midnight toast with a glass premium champagne and party favors.

    Special Mission: New Year’s Eve

    The 16th annual International Spy Gala will be taking place at The Washington Plaza Hotel on New Year’s Eve. Transform into your alter ego, favorite spy, or one of DC’s very own secret agents!     Annual ZooLights Celebration

    You can always count on the National Zoo for a good time in DC! On New Year’s Day at 5:00PM, the zoo transforms into a magical winter wonderland of 500,000 LED holiday lights for the annual ZooLights celebration. There will also be holiday treats like eggnog, hot chocolate, holiday cookies, and gingerbread for you to snack on!

    Thanksgiving is next week and that means that the holiday season is about to begin! There are so many festive things to do in Washington, DC during the holiday season we would suggest some options for holiday fun so you can spend more time enjoying loved ones.

    The Smithsonian Holiday Festival

    Join The Smithsonian at the National Museum of American History December 2- 3 for their holiday festival! This event features free live music, exhibits and children’s activities.     The 13th Annual Downtown DC Holiday Market


    The Annual Downtown DC Holiday Market will be celebrating its thirteenth anniversary! Visit the unique shopping village to see more than 150 vendors offering unique holiday gifts including crafts, clothing, accessories and photography. The market opens on November 24th, and runs through Saturday, December 23 from Noon to 8 pm daily.

    The National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony


    On November 30th, celebrate the lighting of the National Christmas Tree. Each year visitors from around the world come to check out the unique decorations, displays and live performances throughout the holiday season. Seasonal displays include a Yule log, a large-scale model train and a Christmas manger. Tickets are only required for the lighting ceremony. If you’re unable to make it, stop by before January 2nd for perfect picture opportunity with family and friends!


    The National Hanukkah Menorah Lighting Ceremony


    The National Hanukkah Menorah will be lit on the White House grounds, at the Ellipse on Tuesday, December 12th at 4:00 pm!  Festivities at the lighting ceremony will include musical performances by the US Air Force Band and free dreidel and menorah kits. Did we mention there would be hot latkes and donuts?

    Before sitting down with family and friends, join SOME at their  16th Annual Thanksgiving Day Trot for Hunger. This event takes place on November 23rd at 8:30 am at Freedom Plaza and brings together nearly 10,000 participants in the spirit of giving to benefit programs for the homeless. You can register as an individual or a team here.

    If Christmas Can’t Come Any Sooner


    Officially kick off the festive season on November 25th at 6 pm at CityCenter DC for their 4th annual holiday tree lighting. This event will have many holiday activities vendors including balloon artists and face painters and has quickly become one of Washington, DC’s must see holiday events!

  6. Paint The Town Orange!

    Friday the 13th may have passed, but October is still the scariest time of the year! With all of the Halloween activities in Washington, DC it is sure to be a spooktacular time of year!

    Night of the Living Zoo


    On October 27th at 5:30 PM, join the Smithsonian National Zoo at the largest adult Halloween party, Night of the Living Zoo! Tickets include two cocktails, live entertainment, after-hours access to animal houses and complimentary non-alcoholic drinks.  Of course, there will be a costume contest so come dressed to impress! You must 21 years old to attend this event.

    Celebrate Dia de Los Muertos


    Join the New Orchestra of Washington in celebrating Dia de Los Muertos, the Mexican Day of the Dead celebration at the Mexican Cultural Institute on October 28th at 7:00 pm.  Enjoy a performance by the National Cathedral’s professional choir.

    Paint The Town Orange!


    Spend your Tuesday evening watching fabulous drag queens in costume at the notorious 17th Street High Heel Race. The costume party will begin at 7:00 pm and is followed by the race at 9:00 pm. This annual event attracts a large crowd so be sure to arrive on time so you can see why it’s the talk of the town.  Nothing will make your Halloween happier than a cocktail in Quill to end your night!

  8. Meet Cooper!

    Hello everyone, it’s your favorite Executive Canine Officer, Monti! I have been enjoying my extended vacation with my sisters in Tennessee,  but I’m still working remote! In between chasing squirrels and barking at chipmunks, I’m trying to help my friends at  Partnership of Animal Welfare (PAW) find homes for some very worthy dogs!  Without further ado, I would like you to meet my newest friend Cooper!

    Cooper is a one-year old, male Labrador that has been described as handsome and playful. Our friends at PAW say Cooper is friendly with other dogs and is fine with kids. He may not be experienced at leash walking, but we know he would be a great companion for your family.

    The leaves haven’t begun to turn, but September and pumpkin spice lattes have arrived! Fall is a great time to be in Washington, DC with events every weekend to keep your schedule full. Here are some of our favorites!

     H Street Festival


    Spend Saturday, September 16th with family and friends at the H Street Festival. This annual festival is one of the most attended in the city and is on every local’s fall calendar There will plenty of entertainment including music, dancing, children activities, fashion, art, poetry and more.

    Bond Estates Dinner at Plume

    Rumor has there are still a few seats available for the exclusive wine dinner featuring the 'Grand Crus' of BOND hosted by Director Scott Gould.
