  1. Enjoy Summer Adventures with Elaine

    Hi everyone, it’s me… Monti! I hope everyone is having a great summer. I’m still enjoying quality time with my siblings, but already planning my fall in Washington, DC;  I have not forgotten my role as Executive Canine Officer while I working on my special project! While I’m hard at work, please take a moment to meet my friend Elaine!

    About Elaine

     

    Elaine is one-year old, 58 lb Rottweiler that came to PAW from a local shelter, where she was picked up as a stray. She is very friendly to people and other dogs she meets along her daily walks, a real sweetie!

  2. Summer of American Democracy!

    Are you ready for your Summer of adventure at The Jefferson! There’s so much to see and do in Washington, DC this summer; here are some of our summer favorites!

    Explore the newest exhibit at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History.  Their exhibit,  American Democracy: A Great Leap of Faith opened on June 28th and takes a closer look at how American democracy came to be and features pieces that were instrumental in shaping our country including Thomas Jefferson’s portable writing desk that was used to draft the Declaration of Independence and the inkstand Abraham Lincoln used when crafting the Emancipation Proclamation.

    Join the Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Rally as motorcycle riders from all over the nation come to celebrate its 30th anniversary!  Almost one million bikers meet in the Pentagon Parking lot and ride through DC to pay their respects to fallen soldiers at the memorials. This year’s concert features Auli’i Cravalho, Vanessa Williams, Scotty McCreery and other guest performers along with the National Symphony Orchestra. The best part is the event is that it is free!

    National Memorial Day Parade


    On Monday, May 29th at 2:00 p.m., the National Memorial Day Parade features marching bands, floats, performers and veterans, down Constitution Avenue between 7th and 17th Streets. This parade honors those who have served or presently serve in the U.S. military. Get there early so you can get the best view!

  6. Spring Into A Friendship With Suzy

    Hi there everybody! It’s your favorite Executive Canine Officer, Monti! I’ve really been enjoying my time with my siblings and working on my next project up in Tennessee, but I do miss my co workers back in Washington, DC. So much has been happening while I’ve been gone, including my very exciting feature in Peoples Magazine One Hotel With Pets So You Never Have To Travel Without An Animal Again !It reminded me of my responsibility to make sure every lost dog finds a friendly home by the end of the year.  With that being said, Allow me to introduce one of my closest pals Suzy.

     

    About Suzy

    Suzy is a 16 lb mini-beagle who is turning two soon. After her owners passed away, she was welcomed to the Partnership of Animal Welfare with open arms.

    Our friends at PAW say Suzy is very friendly with dogs and people, especially children.  She would love nothing more than a home with a loving family that will enjoy exercise and playtime with her.

    We can’t believe that it’s already spring! There are a number of celebrations that are happening this season in Washington, DC. We’re thrilled there is still time to plan a visit for Easter and what better way to celebrate than a weekend at The Jefferson!

    Easter at The National Zoo

    There couldn’t be a more perfect time to visit the Smithsonian National Zoo! On Monday, April 17th enjoy special animal demonstrations, and participate in the Easter egg hunt. The hunt begins at around 10:00 am so don’t be late!

    The National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade

    Spend Saturday, April 8th with family and friends at Events DC’s National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade. This annual parade is one of DC’s most popular events and hundreds of people flock to catch a glimpse of the parade route along Constitution Avenue. The parade starts at 10am so don’t be late!

  9. Romance & Rowan

    Hello everyone – Monti here!  Have you heard the news? I’m taking some time off from The Jefferson so I can work on a new project! More to come on that later this month, but I’m super excited to launch this next phase of my presidential career - #Monti2020.

    In the meantime, I wanted to introduce you to my friend Rowan! Rowan currently lives with the good people at the Partnership for Animal Welfare, but he is looking for his forever home.

    About Rowan

    Rowan is a house trained three-year old, 37lb mix breed.. He was found tied outside of an abandoned house, underweight, with some pretty bad damage to his amazing ears.He had also tested positive for heartworms and had to go through a series of treatments, but I’m happy to report that today Rowan is happy, healthy, and ready to join a loving family!

     

    Our friends at PAW say he is a bit timid with people at first, but warms up fairly quickly. He gets along with other dogs and loves to play with all of his friends. There is nothing he would love more than to spend Valentine’s Day with you and your family.
