  1. A Message from Candidate Monti

Hello everyone, it’s me Monti, Leash Party Presidential Candidate!  I hope everyone had a phenomenal summer and is excited for the luck fall will bring. My Secretary of Adoption Services , Whiskey, and I had a serious discussion at my National Convention about an item on my official Barkform that’s near and dear to our hearts; the adoption of all dogs!  With that being said I would like to introduce you to our friend Kylo.

Kylo is a nine-month old male Presa Cannario/Canary Mastiff that may need some training. He was found and turned into a local veterinarian office and our friends at PAW say he is a sweet and playful, enjoys long walks and is ready to be loved by an active family.

I would also like to thank everyone who took time from their day to attend my National Convention. The Leash Party and The Jefferson, DC are selling t-shirts, calendars and raffle tickets to help some of our favorite organizations. Tickets are being sold for $25 each and all of the proceeds will be going to Dog Tag Bakery and the Warrior Canine Connection. Prizes include overnight stays at some of the nation’s best hotels and the grand prize is a weekend stay for two at the Hotel Nikko in San Francisco and airfare! The drawing will be held on Election Day and you do not need to be present to win! To purchase #Monti4Prez t-shirts, calendars or raffle tickets, please contact

I can’t believe I only have 55 more days until Election night! If you are interested in learning more about my presidential cabinet, follow my campaign at @LordMonti  and #Monti4Prez. More information about Kylo and all of my friends at PAW can be found on the Partnership for Animal Welfare website .

  3. Meet Leila

Hello everyone – Monti here, blogging from Camp Kibble where I’m taking a much needed rest from my campaign. I want to assure everyone my campaign has not caused me to neglect my duties as Executive Canine Officer and would like to introduce you to my wonderful friend Leila!

Leila is a house trained two-year old female Rottweiler and  is one of the strongest dogs I know. She was found starving and abandoned at a deserted gas station in Puerto Rico. Fortunately, she was nursed back to health and has been keeping everyone at PAW in good company.

Our friends at PAW say she is super-alert, loves humans, and gets along with most dogs. She is also pretty lively, and probably would enjoy an open space area with another dog her size to play with. There is nothing she loves more than laying beside your feet or getting her belly rubbed.

Unfortunately, I have to go because my campaign never sleeps and I am preparing for my National Convention. If you are interested in meeting Leila or for more information about her or any of our friends at paw please contact

  10. First Lady Cocktail Series: April, Martha Jefferson

    April’s Featured First Lady Cocktail

Inspired by Thomas Jefferson’s Love for His Wife,

     Martha Jefferson

    Jefferson Reviver

Bulleit Rye |Cointreau | Sercial Madeira | Lemon Juice

Simple Syrup | Absinthe Rinse | Coupe | Flamed Rosemary Garnish

Come try the Jefferson Reviver at Quill

Four months after the birth of their last child, Martha Jefferson passed away. Thomas was said to have been inconsolable and was led from the room by his sister into his library, where he promptly fainted. He remained this way for so long they feared he would never revive. The cocktail is a play on a Corpse Reviver #2, with rye replacing the gin and Madeira replacing the Lillet Blanc. Wormwood (from the absinthe) and rosemary were both grown in the Jefferson's Monticello garden.
