Summer of American Democracy

Summer of American Democracy

Summer of American Democracy

Let The Jefferson be your guide to Washington, DC this summer! We're celebrating the Smithsonian National Museum of American History's American Democracy: A Great Leap of Faith exhibit. On display beginning on June 28, 2017, this exhibit takes a closer look at how American democracy came to be and features pieces that were instrumental in shaping our country including: Thomas Jefferson's portable writing desk that was used to draft the Declaration of Independence and the inkstand Abraham Lincoln used when crafting the Emancipation Proclamation.

The Smithsonian’s epic exhibit is not the only itinerary on our list this summer; our in-house historian, Susan Lagon, has created three custom tours designed for a day of sightseeing around the nation's capital!

We hope you’ll join us on this amazing summer of discovery with our Summer of American Democracy offer! This package includes:

  • A daily food & beverage credit to be used for breakfast or brunch in Greenhouse, craft cocktails in Quill, in room dining or at the Michelin starred Plume restaurant. Credit is $30 per day for a standard room, $150 per day when booking one of our Deluxe or Executive Suites.
